Gone are the days where therapy was only available to the wealthy. Talkspace, a popular online therapy app, is ensuring that everyone has access to quality mental health care. Oren Frank, founder and CEO, recently announced that he has come to a deal with Magellan Health, and soon the Talkspace platform will be available for use by anyone insured under Magellan Health.
The app, which is used by more than 500,000 people, was created by Frank in 2012. It quickly grew in popularity and by 2017 more than 1000 professional therapists worked for Talkspace.
Talkspace therapists reach out to users through text messages, emails, and even video chats. These micro-therapy sessions are designed for busy people who can’t make the time for traditional therapy, people whose mental health ailments confine them to their homes, and people who reside in areas where traditional therapy is unavailable.
Users of Talkspace have reported extreme improvements in the state of their mental health, with many saying these improvements happened much more quickly than the improvements they got from traditional therapy.
By providing therapy to everyone, Oren Frank plans to improve the lives of people around the world and to bring about an end to the stigma of therapy.
